What happened ?

Maybe when the man put presents under the chrismas tree his girlfriend's ex boyfriend's ; a jealous man who hated him because he had stolen his woman with a lot of lies, came in the house silently and shot the man in the head then hid behind a wall and waited to kill his ex girlfriend too.
She heard the noise she took her boyfriend's gun and stayed on the stairs, but the man didn't kill her and ran out as fast as possible. When the woman saw blood on the wall she cried and shine a lot but didnt phone the police.
Why ?
